Tbilisi City Court will hear the case of Nikoloz Sharvashidze, our Democracy School Coordinator in Telavi tomorrow. Police alleges that Nikoloz committed administrative offense by disobeying and resisting police during the dispersal of the protest rally on June 20th.
We would like to also underline, that the Prosecutors Office is also investigating the same incident but on possible misconduct by the police. We would like to trust that TCC will uphold the justice tomorrow and those who inflicted physical and moral harm to Nikoloz will be punished accordingly.
We are confident of Nikoloz’s innocence and each one of us stands with him. Nikoloz is the big reason why our Democracy Education/Democracy Schools program is so successful to this day. We wish there were many citizens like him in Georgia.
