About Us

The Eastern European Centre for Multiparty Democracy (EECMD) is an independent organization working to strengthen democratic systems and political culture across Eastern Europe and beyond.

Founded in 2017, as the successor to the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) in the region, EECMD has built upon a decade of expertise to become a leading actor in political development. We operate at the vital intersection of civil society and formal politics, working directly with political parties, movements, and civic leaders to foster a more resilient and inclusive democratic landscape.

Based in Georgia, our reach extends across Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Kyrgyzstan. We believe that democracy is a continuous process that requires constant nurturing, inclusive political processes, ethical leadership, and the active participation of all citizens. Through our regional offices and strategic partnerships, we provide the tools, education, and dialogue platforms necessary for democratic actors to cooperate and navigate the complexities of political change and build societies rooted in accountability and pluralism.
