The school’s work is part of a multilayer project in the region known as “Strengthening Democratic Political Culture in Moldova, through Grassroots Engagement and Enhanced Political Dialogue”. The project has begun operating in three stages with the support of the Netherlands Embassy in Moldova.
Firstly, the Democracy School in Chisinau, the first of its kind in the country, opened in 2021 to support grassroots development for democratic understanding in the region. The Democracy School has utilized a unique educational program that aims to equip the emerging young leaders of Moldova with the knowledge and skills to address various topics in politics and civic affairs. Specifically, students at the school have enhanced their understanding of democratic governance, civil society, anti-corruption, gender equality, and political dialogue.
Secondly, the graduates will be able to use the skills developed from the Democracy School to engage in dialogue with local parties from the region. Dialogue platforms will allow the graduates to engage in issues of democratic development, anti-corruption, and transparency with leaders from regional parties. Lastly, the EECMD will provide ongoing support to Democracy School students with knowledge and advocacy grants, as well as organize the Annual Alumni Networking Forum.
EECMD’s executive director Levan Tsutskiridze warmly congratulated the first alumni/graduates from the ECCMD’S Democracy School in Chisinau – “Very happy to have met and congratulated the first generation of Democracy School alumni in Chisinau. Long time waiting for this and now looking forward to our continued engagement. We all appreciate the support from the Embassy Office of the Netherlands in Moldova.”, says Levan.
This Forum aims to support active cooperation and experience sharing to strengthen ties on the international level, bringing in perspectives from party representatives and alumni from other Democracy Schools. The EECMD is thrilled with the hard work put in by its graduates from Chisinau and it looks forward to their success.
