Statement of the Democracy Schools Alumni Association in Georgia

Ukraine and Georgia are states with common values linked by shared achievements and challenges on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration, the fundamental basis of which is the pursuit of freedom.

Such values and aspirations entirely contradict Russia’s geopolitical ambitions, which continues to undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these two countries. Both Georgia and Ukraine have been fighting back against Russia’s hybrid warfare for more than a decade. However, the historic struggle for freedom and further democratic transformation remains our crucial goal by supporting and strengthening each other.

We, the citizens of Georgia, have experienced many times and are acutely aware of Russia’s continued aggression against free countries or specific people. We will never forget the support of the Ukrainian people in Abkhazia, Tskhinvali and during the war waged by Russia in 2008.
Today, the victim of this aggression is our friend Ukraine, which strives to shape its future, to establish democratic institutions and a free society.

The Democracy Schools Alumni Association in Georgia openly and unequivocally supports Ukraine, the brotherly Ukrainian people, and firmly condemns Russia’s aggression against the freedom-loving Ukrainian nation.

At stake is not just the fate of Georgia or Ukraine; this is the uncompromised battle for European and global security. Like the whole civilized world, Georgia stands by the free Ukrainian people!

Ukraine and Georgia are states with common values linked by shared achievements and challenges on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration, the fundamental basis of which is the pursuit of freedom.
