Fundraising Training for Women Politicians in Kyiv

On November 27-28, 2017, EECMD organized the Fundraising Training for Women Politicians in Kyiv, Ukraine. Members of the political parties representing the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, People’s Front, Samopomich, Batkivshchyna, Opposition Bloc and Syla Liudei from Kyiv, Ivan-Frankivsk, Lviv Region, Odesa Region, Zaporizhia, Donetsk Region and Dnipropetrovsk Region participated in the training.

The training was conducted by Ms. Katherine Diggory, strategic communications expert with over thirteen years of experience in political campaigns and corporate roles.

The training covered important areas that are fundamental and basic to any successful fundraising strategy: importance of fundraising, legal framework for political fundraising in Ukraine, fundraising research, tracking of donors and keeping them engaged outside of election periods, making the ask, methods of fundraising, writing a fundraising financial plan etc.

This two day event enabled the participants to not only acquire a new information about possible strategies for fundraising but to develop more practical approach for their implementation. For many participants, it was the first ever training in this area. As one participants confessed: “After attending the training, all the information puzzles which I had in my mind have come together. Now I can see clearly how a fundraising campaign can be implemented by my party in my city”.

EECMD plans to further continue supporting the fundraising capacity building of female politicians in 2018. The series of training and coaching events planned in 2018 will be our addition to the full and equal participation of women in politics.
