Communications Officer

Duties and obligations:

  • Designing/updating and playing a leading role in the communication strategy of EECMD
  • Supporting the development and roll out of strategic communications plans and public awareness campaigns of EECMD
  • Playing an active role in informing EECMD partners and democracy stakeholders of EECMD’s work
  • Working to promote the achievements of DRIVE Democracy Program and to enhance its visibility and outreach
  • Highlighting success stories and developing communication material to increase awareness of EECMD projects
  • Working to promote EECMD’s work and to better inform EECMD Democracy Schools alumni, civil society and political parties about the opportunities which EECMD’s offers
  • Maintaining and developing EECMD’s website and social media channels
  • Contributing to developing reports, articles and other communication material
  • Liaison with media and managing the media engagement of EECMD staff
  • Contributing to the preparation of annual and project reports;
  • Partnering with EECMD staff in designing and creating project publications, brochures, books and other learning and information material in an engaging and informative way;
  • Assisting and contributing to other related activities of the organization

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Strong story writing experience and knowledge
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, including by using and incorporating multimedia resources
  • Experience in designing and implementing communication strategies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong web and social media skills
  • Good network with Georgian and international media, political and non-governmental communities
  • Knowledge of the standards of international journalism
  • Experience in organizing public events
  • Experience in the (supervision of) the design and editing of professional material (articles, brochures, books) and the publishing process in general
  • Ability to follow timetables, work effectively in a dynamic working environment
  • Report writing skills
  • Able to work independently and under moderate supervision, especially in the context of the limitations created by COVID-19
  • Basic experience/training in professional photo/video shooting will be considered an asset


  • Advanced degree in journalism, media management or related fields of social sciences (media, political communications or politics) preferable;
  • Fluent English and Georgian writing and speaking abilities;
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian languages will be considered a strong advantage
  • Disciplined, reliable and punctual worker, able to meet deadlines and work in a multi-tasking environment
  • Knowledge and experience with the Georgian and international media is strongly desired;
  • Politically sensitive and non-partisan
