Call for applications: Core Mediation Training in Georgia

The Eastern European Centre for Multiparty Democracy (EECMD), in partnership with the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD), announces open call for participation in the Core Mediation Training (CMT), which will take place in Kvareli, Georgia. Training will be conducted by experienced mediators of the Dutch company “Results Mediation.”

About EECMD

The Eastern European Centre for Multiparty Democracy (EECMD) is a democracy assistance organization that promotes the deepening of democracy through interparty dialogue and capacity strengthening of political parties. To foster the democratic culture in a country, EECMD also provides political education programs that focus on democratic values, knowledge and political skills. Based in Georgia and Ukraine, EECMD contributes to inclusive and stable political systems in these countries.

About NIMD

The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) was founded by seven Dutch political parties in 2000 in order to assist political parties in new and developing democracies. NIMD’s vision is to support multiparty political systems and capacity building for political parties and political groups to sustain stable, pluralistic democracies. Through its support, NIMD aims to contribute to deepening and sustaining democratic political institutions in young democracies.

About Results Mediation

Result Mediation is the largest mediation provider in the Netherlands with an annual case load of over 1200 mediations. Organization provides arbitration services and trainings in negotiation, mediation and conflict management skills. The mediators and arbitrators of Result Mediation are specialized in resolving both workplace and commercial disputes in the Netherlands and throughout Europe.

The Core Mediation Training (CMT) is a compact, intensive and practical training devised to bring the participants’ negotiating and mediation skills up to a professional level. Mediators will guide an intensive role playing for the duration of the training.

Core Mediation Training:

  • Helps organizations to resolve conflicts through mediation;
  • Helps managers and other professionals benefit from acquired skills in order to function more effectively within their own organization;
  • Helps participants to effectively use the mediator skills in social circumstances in order to align the diverging interests of different stakeholders;
  • Will equip the participants with knowledge and skills to bring parties together through mediation;

Program of the Training

The training will be organized in two main blocks. Block I will focus on the following aspects of negotiation: the Harvard negotiating method, conflict theory and its application, communication, creativity, power and influence and effects of basic attitude linked to personal integrity. Block II will focus entirely on practicing, reviewing and improving the participants’ mediation skills. Multiple cases will be role played and all the different phases of mediation process will be discussed.

Eligibility

Core Mediation Training (CMT) is open to the representatives of Georgian political parties, Georgian NGO members and EECMD/NIMD Democracy School graduates. Preference will be given to the Democracy School graduates.

Very good knowledge of English is mandatory for participating in the training. All expenses are covered by organizers.
